Daniel Burgos the Second and his wife Desiree have stayed with their son Daniel Burgos the Third at the Columbus Ronald McDonald House on multiple occasions over the last three years while their son has received treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. A few weeks before Christmas Day, the family organized a donation drive involving their local church so that they could send a collection of stuffed puppies to our House so families staying at the House could get comfort during this special time of year. When they looked into the cost of shipping the toys to Columbus from their home in Florida, they found that it would cost about the same if two of them flew with the boxes to Ohio on Southwest Airlines, a partner of Ronald McDonald House Charities. So the two Daniels booked a flight from their Florida home, with the plush puppies, to Columbus. They would arrive mid-day and leave before evening. Just enough time to hand out the toys personally to some families in the lobby of the House. They said it was such a pleasure being able to come to Columbus for this special purpose for once, rather than having to come for one of young Daniel’s medical procedures.
