A Sister with Addiction While Growing up Moves Board Member to Start Kennedy Behavioral Health Endowment Fund

As we wrap up the Mental Health Awareness Month of May, we spotlight John Kennedy, a board member here at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. John recently sat down with us to talk about his family’s experience with addiction and mental illness, and shares that he wishes he and his family had a resource like the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion and Ronald McDonald Family Room when he was growing up. He feels such a facility, and our space inside where family members of patients can take a break, is vitally important these days with rising childhood mental health issues. Click the image below to watch the video and learn more about why he chose to establish the Kennedy Behavioral Health Endowment Fund.

If you would like to help us support mothers, fathers, brothers, & sisters who get to take a break in our Ronald McDonald Family Room at the BHP while a family member gets the care they need, you can now donate to the Kennedy Behavioral Health Fund. Learn more about the Ronald McDonald Family Room program here and to support our room at the BHP and other initiatives by RMHC of Central Ohio to support families affected by childhood mental illness, donate to the fund by clicking here. Thank you.
