More Treats than Tricks this Halloween

By: Abigail Brumme

A little over three months ago, I transitioned into my new role as the Family Activities Manager for RMHC of Central Ohio. This new role has allowed me to combine two of my passions, partnering with the community and working with our families. On October 24th, I had the pleasure of working with the cast of Heels of Horror who hosted a spook-tacular Halloween party for the families at the House. This party included a costume contest, pumpkin painting, a coloring contest, story reading and even trick-or-treating in the House! For a few hours, our families were able to put everything aside and spend time having fun with one another. The House was full of laughter, loads of excitement, memories that will last a lifetime and of course lots of Halloween CANDY!

All of this happened due to the support of members of the Columbus community. Our goal is to at least have one family activity every day so that our families are able to spend time together and to get a little break from everything else going on in their lives. Activities such as ice cream socials, BINGO or board game nights, arts and crafts, holiday activities and so much more are able to be hosted by all different members of the wonderful community of Columbus.

These activities help to create bonds for our families to form friendships as well as volunteers and our families as well.  If you are interested in hosting an activity for our families or have a fun holiday activity in mind, you can learn more here: https://rmhc-centralohio.org/get-involved/volunteer/ . When volunteers and families are able to come together, we are able to create a really special home-away-from-home for thousands of families every year.
