From the very beginning, Titus James Leach has been a force to be reckoned with. Born 10 weeks premature due to complications, including preeclampsia and high blood pressure, Titus entered the world through a crash c-section and was unresponsive for six minutes. Despite these challenges, he has shown incredible resilience and strength throughout his short 5½ years.
Many of Titus’s early years were spent in the NICU, PICU, and at various doctors’ offices to ensure his health. He is anything but ordinary, and we wouldn’t change him for anything. The Ronald McDonald House has been a home-away-from-home for Titus, his sister, and his grandma while he and I attend his appointments. The House is so friendly and warm—my kids literally think it’s a vacation and look forward to going!

Titus was born with bronchial tracheal left lung malacia. He has weak lungs and legs with weak muscle tone that require braces, ankle-foot orthoses, and special shoes. His vision is impaired, and he wears the cutest blue glasses. He has graduated from his heart and lung doctors at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and now only requires annual visits.
As his momma, Titus has taught me so much about living in the moment and how quickly things can change. He will be six years old in May. When he came into the world on May 12, 2019, it was actually Mother’s Day. We love sharing his story to let other parents know they are not alone in the fear and worry of having a sick child. The Ronald McDonald House has been an amazing facility and a huge blessing for our family.
This is Titus and his sister Willow, his biggest supporter and friend.
