Omario’s condition is so rare, that doctors in his hometown back in Jamaica were stumped. When they connected with doctors from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, they found the problem. Hirschsprung Disease. The family has been in Columbus since early February and Omario’s condition is now improving. They hope to return to fly kites on those Caribbean beaches soon. But they know volunteer staff made it possible for their son to thrive during his tough time being so far from home. We are deeply appreciative of the kindness, love, and support that our volunteers generously give our guest families, treating them as if they were their family members. As Omar said, “There are still good people out there”. We are immensely thankful for our incredible volunteer base and the great people who show up day after day to make a difference in the lives of these families.
