“What we thought was going to be a fun ultrasound at 28 weeks to see our son’s face for the first time turned into the kind of doctor visit we never imagined. We were told we should go home, pack a bag, and head to the hospital immediately. Our son had fetal growth restriction due to end diastolic flow. Essentially, our little guy was not getting the blood flow he needed to grow. We were admitted and told that we needed to deliver our baby at 29 weeks or risk losing him in the womb.”
“Colt Graham was born at 1 pound 7.6 ounces. For the next 115 days, he stayed in the NICU while the Ronald McDonald House became our home-away-from-home. The House is such a wonderful place to have available, but it was not what we envisioned our life as new parents would be. We had dreamed, like most parents do, of taking home a full-term, healthy baby.
Through Colt’s NICU stay, the Ronald McDonald House became a place of comfort and support to us. Friendly staff faces greeted us immediately upon check-in and checked on us through our entire stay.
We cannot begin to thank all the wonderful people, from nurses, doctors, and medical personnel, to the volunteers, staff, and families at Ronald McDonald House who we met along this journey. They all helped us and taught us how to be parents to our tiny miracle who is now 13 pounds and the smiliest little guy.
Happy Mother’s and Father’s Day to everyone who takes a role in a child’s life!”
