What is the Ronald McDonald House Celebrity Steer Show?

This event celebrates the values of agriculture, youth, and community, bringing together influential Central Ohio leaders, 4-H youth from across the state, and local media personalities in a spirited team competition. In partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Central Ohio, the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Telhio Credit Union, and the Ohio Expo Commission & State Fair, the event aims to raise vital funds to support RMHC of Central Ohio and the thousands of families they assist each year. All proceeds benefit RMHC’s mission of providing comfort, care, and support to families in need.

How does this event support RMHC of Central Ohio?

The Celebrity Steer Show brings participants together to raise awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio while also raising critical funds to keep its core programs operating. Many participants leave this event with a greater knowledge of the mission of the charity and want to become more involved with RMHC and grow their participation. This includes volunteering, recurring giving, sponsorship, and donations.

Raised by Bryson Cartwright of Auglaize county, Sparkee is a 1200 pound Maine steer who enjoys being scratched under his neck. His favorite snacks are apple NutriGrain bars, Chips Ahoy, and apple flavored cattle treats. He is affectionate, laid back, and loves kids.

Sparkee loves spending time being rinsed and having his hair blown out. He runs to the gate when he sees the trailer pull into the driveway and loves to ride on the trailer with his nose out the side. He loves practicing showmanship skills and working on his perfect pose. He also loves naps in the barn with Bryson by his side.

Cardinal Health is a global, integrated healthcare services and products company headquartered in Dublin, Ohio. Through its Foundation, Cardinal Health supports initiatives like youth suicide prevention and food insecurity programs, while also matching employee donations and encouraging volunteerism to strengthen communities.

Riased by Natalee Eichorn of Morrow county, Darla is a 982 pound crossbred market heifer that is really calm, likes treats, and to be brushed. She has a chill demeanor and loves to be scratched on her head.

Deeply rooted in the Columbus community, Carfagna’s supports local charities, cultural festivals and youth-focused foundations.

We call him Goose, and he is every bit as big, goofy, and lovable as his name implies. To the rest of the world, he is a massive powerhouse of a steer, but to Paisley, he is simply her best friend.

Goose firmly believes life is meant to be pampered. He will stand blissfully still for hours while Paisley spoils him with cool baths, endless brushing, and a steady stream of treats. But as much as he loves his spa days, his true happy place is the show ring. The moment he steps into the spotlight, his ears perk up and he marches in with absolute joy, teaching Paisley that the best way to handle the big stage is with a calm, happy, and loving heart. He is stubborn, loves vanilla wafers, and will try to lick you to death!

Don Jones serves as the State Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Ohio. A lifelong agricultural leader from Freeport, Ohio, Jones brings over two decades of experience as an agricultural education teacher, FFA advisor, Ohio State Legislator, and co-founder of a family farm equipment dealership. He is deeply rooted in his community, having served in roles ranging from volunteer fireman to soil and water conservation chairman, and continues to operate a family farm alongside his wife, Amy.

Taz is a 1100 pound scratches-loving shorthorn steer who enjoys guzzling sweet tea. His is loving, outgoing, and ornery.

Taz was Bred and born on 4-Her Bristol Tipton’s family farm. He loves kids and her other show steer Ace is his best friend.

Meyers + Associates is an award-winning architecture and interior design firm based in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to building community through design. Founded in 1999, the firm brings originality and care to a wide range of project types. Meyers + Associates is committed to creating environments that connect people, elevate everyday experiences, and transform the communities they serve.

Raised by Coy Ellington of Stark county, Buddy the Elf is a 1,000 pound Maine steer who enjoys being scratched on his forehead. His favorite snacks are Twizzlers, and he is a pretty laidback homebody.

Buddy is a fuzzy-eared and energetic steer. He likes a game of hide and seek, and loves a feed bucket.

NiSource is committed to modernizing its energy infrastructure to enhance safety, reliability and environmental performance. Through the NiSource Charitable Foundation, the company supports nonprofit organizations and encourages employee volunteerism to strengthen the communities it serves.

Raised by Alexis May of Fayette county, Baxter is a 758 pound Shorthorn plus steer who enjoys being scratched under his neck. His favorite snacks are animal crackers, and he acts like a big puppy dog with a little spunk!

Alexis has had Baxter since he was 3 months old. He’s always had a gentle personality with a little attitude! He’s been one of Alexis’ favorites to show. His willingness to learn has made the journey of getting him to be an amazing show steer go smoothly. Every now and then he has his days where he can test your patience. One of Alexis’s favorite things to do with him is sit with him in his pen or out in the pasture.

The OSU Alumni Association is a community-driven organization dedicated to keeping Buckeyes connected to their alma mater and to one another. With a mission to build lifelong champions for each other and for Ohio State, the Alumni Association celebrates Buckeye pride, recognizes alumni achievement, and fosters a network of support that extends well beyond graduation day.

Raised by Sydney Skinner of Washington county, Razzy is a 1300 pound crossbred market heifer who enjoys being scratched under her brisket.

Razzy loves being out in the lot with all of her friends. She is very goofy but she is also lazy and loves to just relax.

The Partners for Ohio Agriculture team is a collaborative group of agricultural organizations and businesses that annually support the RMHC Celebrity Steer Show at the Ohio State Fair. Partners for Ohio Agriculture is joint effort between the Ohio Farm Bureau, Nationwide and Farm Credit Mid-America. This year’s exhibitor, Adele Flynn, is a representative from the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.

Raised by Kimber Cook of Pickaway county, Jimmy is a 1331 pound Chianina steer who enjoys being scratched on the top of his shoulders. His favorite snacks are marshmallows and vanilla creme sandwhich cookies.

Jimmy is a big steer that enjoys resting. He loves his afternoon naps, especially when he has plenty of room to spread out. He lives his life in the slow lane and doesn’t get in a hurry for much.

Jimmy enjoys eating hay and feed time. He also likes playing with Kimber’s other steer Mich. Jimmy runs the show and if he doesn’t feel like doing something, there’s no changing his mind.

Raised by Kennedie Porter of Muskingum county, Polar Bear is a 1178 pound Shorthorn steer who enjoys being scratched under his neck. He is very calm, laid back, and friendly.

Polar Bear loves to play outside and get exercise. He enjoys attention, eating, and being washed and blown out.
