Ohio University's Annual 12-Hour Dance Marathon to Support Families with Sick Children
BobcaThon is more than just an event; it’s a movement of students, faculty, advisors, families and communities united by the belief that healing happens better when families are together. It’s not just about the funds we raise; it’s about the lives we touch, the families we support, and the hope we ignite.
Each year, we dance, fundraise, and rally together, all to provide a home-away-from-home for families from Athens while their children are receiving medical care in central Ohio. With your support, we can make a significant difference in the lives of these families.

Founded in 2014, BobcaThon is a campus-wide cause. Hundreds of Ohio University students, faculty, and alumni from over 20 on-campus organizations participate in the Dance Marathon and help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio through personal involvement and student organization participation. Since its inception, BobcaThon has raised over half a million dollars for RMHC of Central Ohio!
BobcaThon provides mutually beneficial experiences to both Ohio University, students, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, and the families that are served.
Ohio University Benefits – On campus, it is a way for students to get involved in campus life, network with other students and alumni, and find a sense of community.
Ohio University Student Benefits – For the students, it provides an opportunity to learn about philanthropy, serve in leadership roles, and gain real life skills in areas such as marketing, finance, and project management. When the dance marathon takes place, students have an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and make memories together.
RMHC of Central Ohio Benefits – Funds raised make a huge impact for our families. Sometimes, past RMHC families even attend the event to celebrate with the students and share what the fundraising means to them. Since 2014, BobcaThon has helped provide over 5,000 free nights of rests for families in need of a place to stay close to their children being treated in Columbus area hospitals.
