A Long Standing Partnership & Our Partner in Healthcare

McDonald's

Ronald McDonald House Charities has been McDonald’s charity of choice for more than four decades. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, but McDonald’s is our largest corporate donor. A portion of the annual operating costs for Columbus Ronald McDonald House is graciously funded by McDonald’s and the Owner/Operators of local McDonald’s restaurants. The remainder of our annual operating income comes from the generosity of individual and corporate donors. McDonald’s involvement extends far beyond monetary support.

Joe Mortellaro Golf Classic

Over three decades ago McDonald’s Owner/Operator Joe Mortellaro founded the first Ronald McDonald House Golf Outing. Thanks to his leadership, this tremendous fundraising event has raised over four million dollars.

Donation Box and Round-Up for RMHC Program

McDonald’s customers support RMHC through a variety of fundraising events and programs, including donations in RMHC Donation Boxes found in restaurants throughout Central Ohio and the Round-Up for RMHC campaign, which is a tremendous boost to our local operating budget.

McDonald’s has also made a very generous commitment to our capital campaign to add another 80 guest rooms, along with a new kitchen and dining area, community space, and new offices.

Although McDonald’s is our largest corporate donor, no company can solely fund RMHC programs and our projected growth. We need the support of the entire community and greatly value any support you can afford to RMHC, whether it’s through cash donations, your time, or fundraising efforts.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a critical partner of RMHC of Central Ohio, and we are extremely proud to support their efforts to provide excellent healthcare to children in Central Ohio and beyond. Our partnership, which has continued for more than three decades, grows stronger each year. In fact, in 2009 a new partnership between our organizations was launched, allowing employees of RMHC to receive all of the benefits and support of employees of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Since late 2010, our organizations began working together to provide access to healthcare for children in underserved areas of Central and Southeastern Ohio through our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a nationally recognized pediatric hospital, and is increasing its draw from outside of Central Ohio based on the specialized care offered and its outstanding reputation throughout the world. This expansion of service has resulted in a greater need for services provided by the Ronald McDonald House.

As an integral partner, Nationwide Children’s has made in-kind and cash donations to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. These donations include:

  • Lease over one acre of prime real estate adjacent to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, for $1/year.
  • Exterior maintenance of facility including landscaping maintenance.
  • Assistance with various internal operations such as technology and human resources needs.
  • Purchasing the previous Ronald McDonald House and arranging another lease to facilitate the move to our current facility on Livingston Avenue.
